Nissa Wrightson is a licensed alcohol and drug counselor and the clinical director of inpatient services at AdCare Hospital. She brings over 30 years of experience in the behavioral health industry.

At AdCare, Nissa leads various specialized treatment programs. Her daily interactions with patients reflect her commitment to providing therapeutic trauma-informed care and creating a supportive environment for individuals on their recovery journey.

Prior to AdCare, Nissa served as an evening supervisor and substance use counselor at McLean Hospital/Harvard/Fernside Treatment Center in Princeton, MA. There, her responsibilities included mentorship, staff supervision, education on group therapy enhancement, and the administration of clinical-based groups.

Nissa also spent nearly 20 years working at Community Healthlink in Worcester, MA, where she helped coordinate treatment, recovery, and housing services for individuals and families experiencing mental illness, addiction, and poverty. She also played a key role in budget development, program fundraising, team cultivation, and regulatory compliance.

Nissa earned her master’s degree in healthcare administration and a bachelor’s degree in community healthcare education from Worcester State University, where she also worked as an adjunct faculty member and student mentor program instructor.

In addition to her LADC-I, Nissa is also a certified alcohol and drug counselor (CADC).
