Jeffrey W. Hillis – President and CEO, AdCare Hospital
Jeffrey W. Hillis, J.D., M.B.A., is the President and CEO of AdCare Hospital of Worcester, Inc., an alcohol and drug specialty hospital in Worcester, Massachusetts with outpatient locations in Worcester, West Springfield, Boston, Quincy, and North Dartmouth, Massachusetts, as well as in Warwick, Rhode Island. The AdCare Inc. system also encompasses AdCare Rhode Island, a residential facility in North Kingstown, with outpatient offices in Greenville, Portsmouth, and South Kingstown, Rhode Island.
A third-generation member of the Hillis family, Jeffrey Hillis is committed to continuing the Hillis family tradition of providing quality patient care. Hillis, who joined AdCare Hospital as Vice President of Administration in 2002, became President of the Hospital in 2014, and President and CEO in 2018. He continues to oversee hospital operations, including The Joint Commission, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), Massachusetts Department of Public Health, and Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) survey processes.

Hillis meets regularly with legislative leaders, executive branch leaders, and representatives from managed care organizations to discuss issues surrounding substance use disorder treatment, managed care, finance, legal issues, and employment, and is a frequent presenter at conferences on issues related to substance use disorder treatment.
Fred Trapassi – CEO, AdCare Rhode Island
Fred A. Trapassi, Jr., began his career more than 30-years ago as a VISTA volunteer (Volunteers in Service to America) providing indigenous street outreach to adolescents and adults living on the streets of Providence. In May of 2000, Fred joined Phoenix House, the largest non-profit treatment provider in the country at that time. In 2007 he was promoted to Vice President and Senior Program Director for S. New England Operations with direct oversight of 11 programs throughout the states of Rhode Island and Massachusetts. In 2016 Fred joined American Addition Centers as the CEO of Sunrise House, and in May 2019 he transferred to RI as CEO of AdCare Rhode Island, the most comprehensive SUD treatment continuum in that state.
Fred recently received the 2015 Rhode Island Labor Assistance Professionals Award for providing help and compassionate care to members of RI’s associated unions and their families. Fred has also received the prestigious Jefferson Award for greatest public service to a local community, the Nyswander Dole (Marie) Award for treatment advocacy, and the Brown University Howard K. Swearer Award for his work as a VISTA volunteer and street outreach worker, addressing the needs of runaway youth and the homeless from 1986 to 2000.
Fred is a Rhode Island State Trained Mediator, Trainer for SAMHSA’s Serious and Violent Offender Re Entry Initiatives and has served on and been appointed to numerous Boards and committees over the years including: the Governor’s Commission on Behavioral Healthcare, the Governors Overdose Task Force, the Substance Use and Mental Health Leadership Council of RI, the RI Justice Commission, the Governor’s Commission on Disabilities, United States Department of Health and Human Services (federal peer reviewer) and the Providence Juvenile Hearing Board (past chairman and member).

Dr. Mohammad Alhabbal, MD – Medical Director
Mohammad Alhabbal, MD, ABFP, ABAM, is Medical Director at AdCare Hospital, as well as the principal of Lianne, Inc., an adult primary care and addiction medicine practice on the main campus of AdCare Hospital. A graduate of the Damascus University Medical School in Syria, Dr. Alhabbal completed his Family Medicine Residency at the University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester, Massachusetts, where he is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine’s Hospitalist Division. Other positions include eleven years as an attending physician at AdCare Hospital, as well as employment as a family practitioner for the Primary Care Office in Worcester, Massachusetts. Dr. Alhabbal is certified by the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) and the American Board of Addiction Medicine (ABAM).
He is also a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) and the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM). Recent poster presentations include the Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) in the Primary Care Setting for the 2018 Massachusetts Society of Family Medicine’s Spring Refresher Conference in Boston, Massachusetts, and the 2018 Case Management Society of New England Conference in Sturbridge, Massachusetts.

Marcella Rivard – Chief Financial Officer and Corporate Treasurer
Marcella Rivard, C.P.A., M.B.A., brings significant industry/finance experience and an excellent track record for leading finance and operational teams. Most recently, Ms. Rivard held the position of Chief Financial Officer with Steward Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, MA. Previous to her Steward employment, she worked for Harvard Medical Faculty Practice Group of Beth Israel, Boston as Executive Director of Finance and Business Operations; Hallmark Health System, Inc., Medford, MA as Corporate Controller and Director of Financial Planning Decision Support; and at UMass Memorial Health Care System, Worcester, MA as Senior Director of Financial Planning/Director of Business Development for Affiliate Hospitals.

Patrice M. Muchowski – Sr. Vice President of Clinical Services
Patrice M. Muchowski, Sc.D., Sr. Vice President of Clinical Services, is a licensed psychologist, an associate in the University of Massachusetts Medical School’s Department of Psychiatry and a clinical instructor in Harvard University’s Department of Psychology. Dr. Muchowski holds a doctor of science degree and a master’s of science degree from Boston University.
Dr. Muchowski has worked in both inpatient and outpatient settings, with a specialization in the treatment of women with addiction, and dual diagnosis.
