AdCare RI Recognized as One of Providence’s Fastest Growing Companies

For the second year in a row, Providence Business News has recognized AdCare Rhode Island as a Fastest Growing Companies finalist in the $5-25 million category. AdCare Rhode Island, located in North Kingstown, RI, has been a trusted community provider for many years and is working to accommodate growing numbers of people looking for treatment for addiction.

CEO Fred Trapassi has attributed this distinction to AdCare’s “extremely knowledgeable and motivated staff who are dedicated to helping individuals struggling with addiction; the phenomenal multimedia  marketing, and business development support from AdCare’s parent company, American Addiction Centers; and the enormous demand for treatment.”

How AdCare Has Expanded to Meet the Needs of the Community

AdCare is committed to meeting the needs of those who struggle with addiction and mental health in the community. The numbers of those individuals needing and seeking out specialized care have grown in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Trapassi said of the pandemic’s impact: “In our communities, the state of Rhode Island, and across the country, the opioid/fentanyl overdose epidemic worsened by COVID is  unlike anything we’ve ever seen.”

AdCare expanded their services, for example by offering telehealth treatment, to meet this growing need. “During COVID, we  saw an increase in people experiencing isolation, anxiety, depression, and addiction,” said Sarah Horgan, COO, “and the volume of services provided expanded to meet the need.” Bringing services directly to patients through telehealth allowed AdCare to more effectively treat those in need of care. AdCare is set to introduce a new hybrid model in its Greenville and South Kingstown outpatient locations to serve those who want in-person care as well as those who prefer to access treatment remotely.

AdCare RI Inpatient

Trapassi also attributes AdCare’s success to the fact that it is the only residential treatment facility in Rhode Island to begin patients on medication-assisted treatment (MAT), stating that more patients who entered detox and residential rehab at AdCare Rhode Island in 2021 opted to begin MAT and experienced an overall success rate of 82%.

With an ever-increasing demand for addiction treatment in RI and across the nation as whole, AdCare is currently in construction to expand its number of beds by 21, increasing its capacity by 36%. “Looking ahead, I think there will be no shortage of people in need of treatment, and we look forward to serving them,” said Trapassi.
