Should I go to Treatment During the Pandemic | AdCare Treatment Centers

An individual may be struggling with an addiction to opioids, alcohol, or even cocaine. They may even know they need the help but are simply afraid to reach out for it at this time due to the pandemic. But who knows how long this pandemic will last? And a substance use disorder (SUD) or an alcohol use disorder (AUD) doesn’t have the time to wait. It’s vital that an individual struggling with a substance addiction gets the help that they need, as the addiction may get worse.

AdCare Treatment Centers  consists of facilities in both Massachusetts and Rhode Island. However, American Addiction Centers (AAC) is the parent company to all of them and is a nationwide leader in addiction treatment. Two AdCare facilities offer inpatient treatment: AdCare Rhode Island (North Kingstown) and Adcare Hospital (Worcester, MA). The others provide outpatient treatment. At AdCare, individuals are also offered family services, telehealth services, and criminal justice services if needed.

COVID-19 Safety Protocols and Treatment

AdCare Treatment Centers aim to offer a safe environment for patients and staff alike.

Our safety protocols include:

  • Bringing your vaccination card with you. It’s not required for an individual to be vaccinated in order to receive treatment. If an individual has been vaccinated, however, they need to present their card once they arrive to the facility.
  • Screening is part of the process. Individuals are asked a series of questions about contact with someone who has traveled in areas of concern, possible exposure, or their own travel history.
  • AAC’s own lab conducts COVID-19 testing. We remain HIPAA compliant, testing is 100% confidential, and all patients admitted to our facilities are eligible for the test. Those who test positive, will not be admitted into treatment for everyone’s safety.
  • Specialized treatment. AAC provides therapists who are trained in the effects of anxiety associated with COVID-19. Many individuals are experiencing anxiety because of the pandemic and having therapists that run groups to address this issue is helpful.
  • Staff monitoring. Staff members that may have been exposed to the virus are asked to isolate themselves for 14 days without symptoms from the point of exposure and then they may return to work.
  • Facility hygiene. The facilities are deep cleaned multiple times a day; individuals are asked to wash hands, to social distance, and essential personnel (patients and staff) are the only ones allowed to enter the facility.

Uncertainty scares a lot of people. People fear what they don’t know. And even though there are many facts available about the pandemic, there is also so much that doctors, scientists, and the general population are still learning. In the midst of all of this uncertainty and learning curve, there are people still struggling with addictions to alcohol or drugs. And they don’t have to wait for the pandemic to be over in order to get the help that they need today. As a matter of fact, they shouldn’t wait. AdCare Treatment Centers are here to help those live a life of long-term sobriety.
