National Prevention Week and Wally P

This week, AdCare is proud to participate in SAMHSA’s National Prevention Week!

Held every third week of May, National Prevention Week aims to increase public awareness surrounding substance use and mental health issues. The timing of the event is especially important, as the summer can be a source of unique obstacles for those struggling with substance dependencies and/or mental health.

Throughout the week, AdCare will be sharing an array of facts, statistics, and information regarding substance use and mental health to promote greater awareness of and compassion towards those who may struggle with one or both conditions. To learn more, please follow AdCare on Facebook and Twitter!

These awareness efforts culminate at the end of the week with two spectacular nights celebrating prevention and recovery! Wally P, renown AA historian and author of Back to the Basics of Recovery, will speak about his devotion to saving lives and living a full life in recovery in both Massachusetts and Rhode Island:

Friday, May 20th: AdCare Rhode Island
Saturday, May 21st: Worcester Historical Museum

If you are a person in recovery, please join us! Snacks and comradery will be provided – all you have to do is come! As this year’s National Prevention Week theme says: “Strong as One. Stronger Together.”
