RECOGNIZING RECOVERY MONTH 2017 AT ADCARE (L-R): Worcester City Manager Edward M. Augustus, AdCare Hospital President Jeffrey W. Hillis, and Mayor Joseph Petty

The Recovery Month Proclamation issued by Mayor Petty highlighted the impact of substance use disorders locally, particularly opioid-related deaths, with 51 people losing their lives to opioid-related overdose deaths in Worcester last year. It also underscored the WORCESTER CARES ABOUT RECOVERY Walk and Celebration that was held Saturday, September 23, 2017 on the Worcester Commons. AdCare, along with other treatment and healthcare providers, law enforcement, city officials and citizens, came together to celebrate recovery and raise awareness that behavioral health is essential to wellness; that prevention works; that treatment is effective; and that people can and do recover.
