Jeffrey W. Hillis, J.D., M.B.A., President and General Counsel
Jeffrey W. Hillis, J.D., M.B.A., President and General Counsel, a third-generation Hillis family member embracing a commitment to quality patient care, is responsible for the oversight of hospital operations, including managed care, finance, legal issues, and employment. Mr. Hillis, who joined AdCare in 2002 as Vice President of Administration, has coordinated Joint Commission, CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services), Massachusetts Department of Public Health, DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) and other survey processes for AdCare Hospital. He has also been involved with the Massachusetts Health Reform laws, as well as monitoring the implementation of the CMS Demonstration Project in Massachusetts for residents that are dually eligible for Medicare and Medicaid.
Mr. Hillis served on the Board of Trustees of the National Association of Psychiatric Health Systems (NAPHS) and is the current Chairman of its Addiction Treatment Committee. He is also member of the Massachusetts Association of Behavioral Health Systems (MABHS) and is the immediate past Chairman. Mr. Hillis is an active member of the Massachusetts Hospital Association (MHA) and is a member of its Finance Committee and serves on its substance use disorder task force. Mr. Hillis also serves on the Beacon Health Options national Provider Stakeholder committee. Local affiliations include Retired Board Member and Past Treasurer of the Health Foundation of Central Massachusetts; Retired Board Member and Past Treasurer of the American Red Cross of Central Massachusetts; and Retired Board Member and Past President of the Worcester Economic Club.
Mr. Hillis is a magna cum laude graduate of Stonehill College and also earned his juris doctor and masters of business administration degrees from Suffolk University in Boston, Massachusetts. Prior finance experience includes a position as Senior Tax Consultant with a strong focus on health care for the professional services firm of Deloitte & Touche, in Boston, Massachusetts.
