AdCare Hospital is pleased to welcome Vyga G. Kaufmann, PhD, as director of the Couples Project for Women struggling with prescription medication or other drugs. Conducted by researchers from Harvard Medical School at AdCare, the study offers free counseling (individual or couples) and compensation up to $240 for qualified participants. Couples Project for Women Struggling with Drug Abuse research follows the successful completion of a similar study at AdCare for women with alcohol problems.
Dr. Kaufmann's experience includes positions as Project Director for the Division of Addictions at Butler Hospital and Project Manager for the Tobacco Use Research Center at the University of Pennsylvania. She earned her PhD in Clinical Psychology at the University of Colorado and is an instructor in the Department of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. "Couples Project for Women research at AdCare offers real help for women battling an addiction to prescription or other drugs," said Dr. Kaufmann. "Free counseling helps participants build the relationship and other skills needed to support their recovery."
